Oxford University Press Selects Equilibrium MediaRich Image Server to Manage, Modify and Deploy Digital Cover Shots to Distributors Worldwide
Equilibrium MediaRich to Streamline Online Delivery of Book Covers through a Self-Service Extranet for Distribution Partners such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble
SAN RAFAEL, CA—MAY 27, 2003—Equilibrium, a leading provider of rich-media servers for the enterprise, today announced that Oxford University Press, the world's largest university press, has selected Equilibrium® MediaRich™ Image Server to streamline workflow and reduce online production costs for delivering digitized book covers to online distributors.
Equilibrium MediaRich is server-based media templating software that automates image production and enables the dynamic delivery of visual assets to the Web, wireless and print media. The online production team at Oxford University Press scans and stores tens of thousands of digitized book covers in a Canto® Cumulus® database. By implementing Equilibrium MediaRich, the team can automatically acquire the original files from the database, generate thumbnail and image zooms for previewing, and dynamically deploy these images outside the firewall to their business partners in the specified formats and dimensions.
"From movable type to stereotype to CD-ROM to online delivery, publishing is constantly changing to respond to new technology. Similarly, Oxford University Press has always been quick to exploit new technology where it adds value to our customers and partners," said Joanna Wolfe, Manager of Business Technical Services at Oxford University Press USA. "Equilibrium MediaRich Image Server will dramatically streamline our digital production and online delivery of our thousands of titles to our distribution partners such as Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble."
